Five Reasons for Joining Kixx

27th October 2022

Football is an excellent sport to help your child develop fundamental skills that will benefit them throughout their life. It teaches them to listen and follow directions, cooperate with teammates, and working together to reach a shared objective.

Participating in sport lessons teaches children how to respect other players and resolve conflict amicably from young ages. This translates to the classroom where they will be able to build and improve relationships with classmates.

Kixx is a football academy for children that inspires fun and joy through sports. There are many reasons you should join Kixx, and that’s just one.

Skill Development

Our programs reflect how playing football helps children’s motor skills grow. The toddler sessions are based around active play so that from the get-go, your child will be developing their balance, running, jumping, kicking, and coordination ability.

The varied skills that football requires allows children to build fundamental motor skills that continue to develop as they grow older (and continue practising!).

Additionally, placing your child in a sporting environment encourages decision-making whilst under pressure. These environments can build healthy competition and teach children how to respect others and manage their emotional responses by learning to work independently or as part of a team.

Fitness

It’s recommended that children have at least 30 minutes of physical exercise per day to improve their health and football counts toward this.

Football can help to reduce illnesses like type 2 diabetes whilst improving cardiovascular health overall. And with all the running, sprinting, and kicking, children will experience improved stamina and endurance and even better muscle and bone strength.

Mental Health

Engaging in physical activity often helps to enhance our wellbeing, reduce stress, and curb anxiety. It can help to prevent mental health issues developing in young minds whilst improving quality of life to those who experience mental health problems.

In fact, exercise has been used as a standalone or combined treatment for depression. Helping to reduce anxiety levels, it’s a more cost-effective treatment approach. Not only that but it can feel empowering and build towards self-management and self-esteem.

Self-esteem is how we feel about ourselves. It is how we perceive our self-worth and can be an indicator of mental wellbeing. The relationship between physical activity positively influencing self-esteem and self-worth has been found among children and adults alike.

After being physically active, people feel calmer and more alert compared to when they experience bouts of inactivity. Plus, exercise is quite an effective stress reliever – highly active people have lower stress rates than others.

Communication and Socialising

Playing football allows children to develop socialisation skills by communicating clearly and regularly with their teammates.

Most people think that to play in a team sport, you have to have a loud voice. But that’s not true at all. Not everyone communicates in a loud, extroverted way and not all communication is verbal. In fact, most communication happens through our expressions and body language.

Eye contact or hand signals can be just as effective as shouting. In some situations it’s even more appropriate to give silent cues over loud ones.

Developing these skills will be fundamental for their future as they learn to understand social cues , work well in a team setting, and how to respect others.
