What Life Lessons Are Children Taught At Our Football Coaching Academy?

15th October 2024

What life lessons are children taught at our football coaching academy? At Kixx, our goal isn’t to only teach children how to pass, dribble, or score lots of goals. We want to have a positive impact on every child’s life, at every opportunity, which involves instilling values and developing skills that benefit them beyond the pitch.

Football isn’t just an exciting sport that is good for keeping your child entertained; football is a powerful tool for accelerating child development and teaches valuable life lessons.

At our football coaching academy, we have supported thousands of children across the country in building confidence, resilience, and social skills. In this blog, we will answer your question, ‘What life lessons are children taught at our football coaching academy?’, by sharing some of the key life lessons we impart to #TeamOrange every day.

What Life Lessons Are Children Taught At Our Football Coaching Academy?

Many life lessons are woven into our curriculum so subtly that the children may not even notice them. We’re definitely not the preachy type, and after a day at school, we’re almost certain no child would enjoy our football lessons if we just gave long talks on ‘How to communicate’ or ‘How to be confident’.

Instead (and more productively), we teach values such as teamwork, dedication, empathy, and self-confidence, through the means of fun practice drills, game simulation tasks, and continuous coaching and sideline encouragement.

Here are some examples of life lessons children are taught at our football coaching academy…

1. Teamwork

There’s no questioning it; teamwork is essential in football. A team can only succeed if all the players work together.

Teamwork is something that is ingrained in our children’s football lessons. Whether children already know each other from school or are meeting for the first time, when they wear our #TeamOrange uniform, they share something in common and are bonded.

Every player on a football pitch has a unique role that is equally important. And the same goes for children at our football academy; every child is different and equal. To succeed, in a football game or in life, children must come together to achieve a shared goal.

Our coaches take huge pride in seeing new faces join our children’s football academies. Some children start as shy individuals, but over time build a sense of belonging and begin to feel part of a team and football family.

2. Resilience and Perseverance

Another thing that football and life have in common is that they are both filled with winning moments and moments of defeat. Learning how to handle triumphs with grace and how to persevere when things aren’t going your way is essential for both.

Our children at Kixx learn along the way that the thrill of winning and the sting of losing is all part of the journey.

Not every drill or football skill will come easily to every child. But that doesn’t mean that the ‘natural’ players are any better than the ones who need more practice! At Kixx, we see every challenge as an opportunity to learn and grow.

Becoming more resilient in football lessons can also translate to tackling life’s adversities. Children learn to persevere on the field, and if they can do that, they can also handle challenges in the classroom, or in life outside of school.

3. Discipline and Commitment

When it comes to learning anything new, growing and developing the required skills takes practice and dedication. This applies to basically everything in life; school, work, learning a language and of course, football lessons.

Attending football lessons regularly requires punctuality, commitment, and discipline.

Children need to learn how to balance multiple commitments, including homework, school, and extracurricular activities.

At Kixx sessions, our priority is always fun. But that doesn’t negate the fact that football requires work and dedication to improve. Sessions at our academy follow a structured curriculum that promotes child development and keeps children entertained. We also teach children about the importance of being dedicated. This establishes positive behaviour that will benefit them throughout their lives.
