Today, we are shining the spotlight on James Urie, our dedicated franchisee for Kixx Cornwall, whose journey with Kixx has been nothing short of extraordinary.
A Journey Built on Passion and Dedication
James’ story with Kixx began in 2018 when he started coaching in Kixx Lincoln. His passion and leadership quickly saw him step into the role of Lead Coach at both Newark and Ollerton, where he spent two years helping children develop their love for football.
In 2020, James took the leap to launch Kixx Cornwall East, just two weeks before the country went into lockdown. Despite the immense challenges of navigating restrictions and uncertainty, James showed remarkable resilience. When he reopened in August 2020, he adapted, persevered, and juggled life through lockdowns before expanding even further with Kixx Cornwall West in 2021.
A Coaching Foundation Built on Experience
James’ commitment to coaching started long before Kixx. At just 17, he earned his Level 1 coaching qualification and went on to manage a grassroots U10s football team. His hunger to develop as a coach continued as he completed his UEFA C (Level 2) coaching badge in 2020.
His experience extends beyond the UK, too. James spent a summer in the USA, working as a Soccer Specialist at a children’s summer camp, coaching young players aged 5-16. During university, his passion for sport saw him gain multiple qualifications and even take on the role of President of the Dodgeball Club—a testament to his leadership skills and enthusiasm for sport development.
Bringing the Kixx Values to Life
At Kixx Cornwall, James embodies everything that makes Kixx special. His passion, professionalism, and commitment to making a real impact in the community set him apart. Whether it’s through his Kixx academies, school and nursery sessions, or even community initiatives like McDonald’s football events, James ensures that every child experiences the joy of football in an inclusive, fun, and inspiring environment.
He leads with integrity, always delivering on his promises and proving that he truly cares in everything he does. His focus is not just on football but on developing confidence, character, and a lifelong love for sport in every child he coaches.
A Life Dedicated to Growth, On and Off the Pitch
Beyond his coaching success, James’ personal journey is just as inspiring. In 2021, he married his wife, Sharni, and in 2022, they welcomed their son, Arthur, into the world. Balancing family life with running a thriving Kixx franchise is no easy feat, but James continues to show that with passion, commitment, and a strong sense of purpose, anything is possible.
