It’s been an incredible few months for Kixx Nuneaton & Hinckley! Since officially launching in March 2025, the academy has quickly become a much-loved part of the local community — helping hundreds of children build confidence, develop new skills, and most importantly, have fun through football.
Leading the way are franchise owners Finlay Shorrock and Max Brogan, whose passion, energy, and commitment to making a difference have made Kixx Nuneaton & Hinckley a real success story.
A Look Back: From Launch to Local Favourite
When Kixx Nuneaton opened its doors earlier this year, families from across the area joined our launch sessions at Nuneaton Academy Sports Centre and Green Towers Hinckley Academy.
Fast-forward to October, and those same venues are now buzzing with energy every week — filled with children aged 2 to 8 years learning, laughing, and kicking their way to confidence.
The sessions are packed with:
- Fun and creative activities that help children learn new football skills
- Confidence-building challenges that nurture teamwork and friendship

Meet the Team Behind Kixx Nuneaton & Hinckley
Finlay Shorrock
With over five years of experience coaching children of all ages, Finlay has built a reputation for creating positive, engaging football environments. Alongside his coaching, he continues to play non-league football for Coventry Sphinx, bringing professional insight and enthusiasm to every Kixx session.
“It’s been amazing to see how much the children have grown since we launched,” Finlay says. “The smiles, the friendships, and the confidence they’ve gained remind us why we do what we do.”
Finlay’s Coaching Style:
- Focused on connection and encouragement
- Loves to teach skills like the Cruyff turn
- Believes every great session starts with a smile

- A proud Burnley supporter (thanks to his dad!)

- Outside football, Finlay enjoys hiking, working out, and creating fun content for social media.
Meet Max Brogan
Like Finlay, Max brings over five years of youth coaching experience and an unwavering passion for helping children develop both on and off the pitch. His sessions are known for their positivity, structure, and a warm, family-friendly atmosphere.
“We’ve built something really special here in Nuneaton & Hinckley,” Max explains. “Seeing the children grow in confidence every week makes all the hard work worthwhile.”
Max’s Coaching Highlights:
- Known for his energetic and encouraging sessions
- Experienced in coaching both 1-2-1 and team sessions
- Loves to see children achieve “firsts” — their first goal, first assist, or first big smile after a great pass
Fun Facts:
- A lifelong Tottenham Hotspur fan
- Favourite player: Lionel Messi, for his creativity and humility
- Enjoys hiking and playing golf (currently a 10-handicapper!)
