Coaching football, especially coaching football to young children can be an unbelievably rewarding job – developing young minds and bodies alongside engaging in the fun of football. If you have always wanted to be a football coach – this is the blog for you. Here, we explore what is so great about it and how you can become a coach for a franchise like Kixx.

Throughout the UK, approximately 2.1 million men play football at least twice a month, so it’s no surprise that so many men and women turn to coaching as a career! Joining a franchise that is passionate about developing young footballers can hold such huge advantages for not only the children but the coaches too!

Why Become A Football Coach?

Becoming a football coach, especially a football coach for children can host so many benefits.

Strengthening Relationships

As it does for the children, football can hugely encourage social engagement and is a great place to make friends with like-minded sportspeople – the same goes for coaches! Working alongside young people and other coaches to formulate strategies and reap rewards is a brilliant way of strengthening relationships in the footballing world.

Personal Development

Coaching is fast paced, understanding and encouraging children to better themselves and progress has a direct impact on the progression of the coach too! Learning in a fast paced environment alongside other football coaches is brilliant for your development both professionally and personally.

Flexibility

So many of us strive for that perfect work life balance – and it is tough to find! Being a football coach means you can fit work around your other responsibilities. Whether it’s your aim to coach kids at the weekend or set up your own franchise, you can make your football coaching career what you want it to be!

How To Become A Football Coach

There are many different routes you can take to become a football coach, depending on whom you want to coach.

Although there are no strict education requirements when teaching football, when coaching children, it is required that you have the appropriate DBS checks as well as training and qualifications in coaching or other relevant early years qualifications (if the children are below a certain age).

Being a coach to young footballers doesn’t come without its challenges. That’s why we encourage those who are embarking on their career as a coach to come equipped with experience working with children. Understanding children is the first step to educating them and encouraging their development. Many franchises may also require relevant experience in a sport setting as well as have First Aid and safeguarding training so that you are able to provide the best coaching and the best care.

A well-rounded education, more often than not, is imperative to one’s understanding of professional gain and success. Academies want coaches who have a firm understanding of progression, for both themselves and the children which they impact.

Footballing Coaching with Kixx

At Kixx, we often have career opportunities opening up around the country. Depending on the age of the classes, we ask candidates to have the appropriate coaching qualifications, First Aid and safeguarding certifications along with experience working with children.

Above all else, however, we aim to bring coaches into #TeamOrange who are positive, caring and have the ability to develop lasting relationships with children, their grownups and our coaching team.
