Joining a football academy can be so beneficial for children of all ages and abilities, and truthfully, there is no ‘right’ time to join a football academy – whenever your superstar feels ready! With the UK’s football league season over and heading into the Summer break, it is at this point in the year that we actually see many children turn to football lessons.
When joining a football academy in the summer months, there are a few things to bear in mind. This Kixx blog aims to explore everything you need to know about joining a football academy during Summer.
Football In Summer
The football season usually takes place between the months of August and May, meaning as we approach the start of Summer in June, there are fewer games to watch, especially if your club is in an English football league and the majority of grassroots football teams are also on a summer break. Football is a game usually played across the nation between Autumn and spring; therefore, many of us footballing fans can feel a loss in the summer months – which explains why football academies like Kixx often experience an influx of children during this time.
Benefits Of Joining A Football Academy During Summer
The key benefit that comes to mind when it comes to playing football in Summer, is that children are off school! This allows children the time to dedicate to learning new skills, making friends and gaining a sense of structure and routine that they can get from attending a football academy.
As with anything, the more time a child spends developing a skill set, the better at that skill set they become. Exactly the same can be said for football – practice practice and practice! It’s the only way to improve.
Communication, patience and teamwork are all things that children can improve both in and out of the classroom. Attending a football academy during Summer can help your child continue working on those valuable life skills, out of the term time.
What To Consider When Joining A Football Academy During Summer
Although joining a football academy during Summer can host lots of benefits for both the child and their parents, there are some things to keep in mind, both in and out of football lessons this summer.
Keep hydrated! Exercising in the sun and warmer temperatures can be really enjoyable, but it is always important to drink plenty of water whilst exercising to help keep our children happy and healthy, on and off the pitch.
Wear sunscreen! This is something that probably goes without saying. During the summer months, many Kixx football lessons take place outside. So it’s super important that children (and grownups) wear sunscreen at all times to keep our precious bodies protected.
Take a break! In summer football lessons, there will always be an opportunity to rest or take a break, to top up our sunscreen and ensure we drink enough water. Resting your body is super important at all times, especially when we are working hard and having fun in higher temperatures.
