Kixx Community Staycation Inspires Over 1000 Children

29th September 2021

Kixx is proud to announce that the Kixx Community Staycation project over the Summer holidays, was an incredible and inspiring success for all involved.

Over 1000 children and young individuals took part in free activities, learning new skills and enjoying free healthy food for a duration of 5 weeks.

The Kixx Community programme sought to help improve life skills of children, their physical health, mental wellbeing and personal enjoyment, through participating in both physical and educational activities.

Kixx Community Staycation was proudly supported by a number of incredible Doncaster organisations, who helped deliver this project with a variety of engaging activities and free healthy food for children.

Included are some amazing words from our providers and those in attendance of the sessions.

The programme ran from Monday 26th July to Friday 27th August at our fantastic venues in Bentley, Armthorpe and Rossington.

It is very difficult to thank everyone involved in this one post but we are so humbled by the incredible community response and togetherness on this fantastic project.

To start with we worked collaboratively with South Yorkshire Police, South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner and Doncaster Council

A huge thank you to all our activity providers: Caged Steel Martial Arts , Caged Steel, We Can Grow, Danum Eagles Basketball Club, Doncaster Martial Arts Centre, Rossington Main FC, Armthorpe Welfare FC, Bentley Colliery Cricket Club , Kixx U.K The M.A. Performing Arts, Glittergem Face & Body Art, Bounce Around and K.D.Davis – Home Delivery.

There were so many other kind hearted individuals involved in making sure this project was a huge success, giving up their own free time in which to do so.

It truly shows what can be achieved when a community comes together!

Thank you so much to you all. Your support has made a difference to the lives of so many across Doncaster.

Just to highlight the impact even further, we have included a nice info graphic which breaks down Staycation in numbers:

The programme attracted 904 children and young people who were on free school meals.

In addition, over 200 children attended our Rossington Venue from non free school meals.

The programme was supported with local community organisations delivering 30% of activities.

This was specifically designed to assist re-building their capability, capacity and improve their sustainability following the impact of the covid pandemic.

Kixx Community Staycation provided a large menu of diverse physical, sporting, educational and enrichment activities to ensure our programme offered something to the widest possible range of children, regardless of age, gender, social or cultural background.
