How Football Lessons Prepare Your Child For Primary School

There are so many tips you can follow as parents, that can help prepare your child for primary school this September. But did you know there are also tons of lessons that are taught at football academies that can also directly contribute to how your child settles into primary school?

If your child attends football lessons under the age of 5, it’s likely they are already on their way to being well prepared for primary school. With that being said, however, it is never too late. Joining a football academy at any age can host great benefits for children who preparing to start their journey in a new year group.

Let’s explore how football lessons can help prepare your child for primary school.

Confidence

When starting primary school, children may require a sprinkle of confidence to help them get involved with the class, make friends and ask questions to their teacher. If your child attends a football academy outside of school, the likelihood of them already having that confidence is high! Football lessons teach children how to improve their social skills, making them more confident when making new friends. Not only this but understanding what it feels like to develop new skills and experience triumphs both individually and as a team.

Confidence can play a big factor when starting primary school, and football lessons are a great way to help your child get more of it!

Making Friends

Confidence leads us on nicely to another way in which football lessons can help prepare your child for primary school – making friends. When children start primary school, they are often introduced to a whole variety of new children, many of whom could become your child’s buddy. Being part of a football academy, helps your children make friends; understanding how to communicate and be kind to each other, understanding what common interests they have and also sharing experiences together.

If you want to help your child make new friends this September, broadening their social circles by attending football lessons for kids is a great start.

Enjoying Instruction & Routine

It is one thing to listen to your parents, it is another thing entirely to listen and follow the instructions of someone who at first, is a total stranger. We understand that your child attending a new place, with a new teacher every day can be quite daunting – both for them and you! If you are concerned about your child being able to embrace the routine of primary school and listen to their teachers, a football academy is the perfect thing for you!

In our football lessons, children are encouraged to experiment and have fun, by listening to the instructions from our coaches. Attending a football lesson every week, and following instructions from their football coach, gives them the perfect introduction to what it may be like at primary school for them.

This even includes a uniform. Uniform, to some extent, is a form of routine. Many children don’t like wearing the same outfit every day, because they aren’t used to it. If a child makes a habit of putting their #TeamOrange kit on every week, they are more likely to embrace wearing their school uniform every day too!
